Major Announcement for 2011

1713 was as far back as we had got with the folk who started the Lankshear spelling of our surname- via this 1713 Robert LANCHISHEAR marriage to Frances DAWSON - the first marriage in linked tree

Well this year 2011 I've found the birth of Robert
1686 baptism Robert LANCHASHEIRE in Castle Cary, Somerset

and 1686 was also the year Frances Dawson was born so they were the same age when they married.....

I've been trying to get further back for Robert's parents and you can follow that search on the web pages themselves

So previously there were the LANKSHEAR families from Oxfordshire and the LANKESHEER families from Someset. Now we are all from Somerset.

There are now Sharing icons available on the web pages.. So you can send to others interested in any pages about your family groups or post on Facebook etc....

Thomas Lankshear as an apprentice

1763 Thos Lankshear was indentured as an apprentice to Absalom MONK of Burford Oxfordshire which is about 8 miles from Thomas's birth place of Clanfield

from UK, Register of Duties Paid for Apprentices' Indentures, 1710-1811

The same year as Absolom took on Rich Cooper

This could be Absalom

Also he is recorded in 1772 as a CHIEF LORDS AND TENANTS OF THE MANOR AND TOWN OF BURFORD
and also perhaps his brother James in 1776

Ann and William HORNER

My great grand Aunt Ann King married William Horner in 1850
I had found them in 1851 and also Ann's death in 1900
But inbetween I had not found.
My dear cousin Diane found them in 1881 and also was finding marriages etc of their children

In 1881 they were indexed as HOMER - so off I went and found 1861 as Horne and 1871 as Horner
and also William's death in 1890

Many thanks to Diane who is a really big help in EAGLE research. Diane's father is my Uncle Ernie
who was a great opera singer and we used to have great musical parties with my father playing the piano.

Houses that Thomas Sylvester Lankshear lived in and Caroline when she moved in with Clement Caswell. Also TSL and Caroline's daughter Flora from 1891 and her marriage to George Norcutt in 1909. More to add - Patty for example

At time of 1901 census Flora Lankshear was a servant with the Welham family at 365 Brixton Rd Lambeth in 1901. The house immediately in front in this view is actually number 363 and 365 is hidden by a bus and trees. Across the corner of Gresham Rd the police station at number 367 is still there so the house numbers have not changed since 1901.

Please ignore the numbers that google maps header says. Zoom into the house and you will see it is 363. The one on right behind blue lamp - use arrow on map to page right to see what can be seen of 365. Anyone visiting Brixton with a camera?

I checked and the Police station is still 367 and 1950 picture of it here Brixton Police station, Brixton Road, Brixton SW9. Historical Brixton - old 1950 and new 2003 photos which must be how Flora saw it and also a tram as a bonus.

then Martin IVENS 21 March 1792 at Aston Le Walls

Ron's grandmother's family - I thought they were in Canada well before Nan was born there but have now found them in Wales and also some new children born in UK so I can order a birth certificate and find out the maiden of Nan's mother who was also an Elizabeth Sarah.

I only know Frances from a census entry - I would guess her as a sister of Thomas but nothing else known. Actually Anthony in his research had Thomas born October 1811 and I have never found anything to support that.

I know John Lankshear married Margaret Pearson in 1808 and I have not found a death for her - difficult in London prior 1837.
So it is vague to know if 1830 Margaret Smith is marrying that John or someone else. Later census have John and Margaret but which Margaret.
The census one is from Scotland. Any ideas?

Jessie was brought up her Aunt Jane and I think she marries Robert and he dies shortly later.
I think I have her as Jessie Mortimer in 1891 but cannot find in 1881
